seattle-brokers-1Our Core Values

Designed Realty has a clear set of core values intended to guide every broker’s behavior and mindset. These values were “created… for you to be the best of the best & help avoid burn out”. They are grouped into three categories:

  • To Be: Ethical, Curious, Knowledgeable, Prompt, Thorough, Reliable.
  • To Display: Care, Expertise, Commitment, Enthusiasm, Professionalism.
  • To Be Willing To: Understand, Create Solutions, Accommodate, Invest, Be Bold, Work Together.

Together, these 17 values define the character we expect in our team, the way we serve clients, and the attitude we bring to challenges.

Values as Guiding Principles

At Designed Realty, these core values are not just words on a wall – they are “lifelines” in our day-to-day work. We established them early on “not because it sounded nice, but because we needed them as anchors” in tough times. Whenever a broker faces stress or starts to get off course (for example, feeling pressure to act against their integrity or getting burnt out), we remind each other to return to our core values. In practice, that might mean pausing to recall that “we value being open and ethical and putting clients first”, which helps cut through panic and refocus on what matters.

By grounding ourselves in shared principles like understanding, curiosity, honesty, and professionalism, our team stays aligned with why we do this work and how we promised to do it. This values-centric approach creates a supportive culture where it’s OK to admit struggles and address them together, rather than hiding them. Ultimately, our core values serve as an ever-present compass guiding decisions and maintaining integrity, especially when facing the inevitable uncertainties and emotional ups and downs of real estate.

Coaching and Continuous Improvement Aligned with Values

Our coaching and training programs are built around these values, emphasizing continuous learning, curiosity, and professionalism. For example, “One of our core values is to be curious”, as our broker-owner Kevin reminded the team in an internal chat. He expressed disappointment when brokers skipped training sessions, noting that learning is crucial to success and directly linked to our value of curiosity (since “learning will help you convert” more clients).

We expect brokers to proactively seek knowledge and ask questions – exercising curiosity – because being knowledgeable and thorough gives us an edge in serving clients. Our leadership even formally revisits the core values in meetings: an agenda for a recent leadership meeting shows an item on “Revisiting Our Values, Teaching Philosophy, and Handling Uncertainty,” which included discussing the values that guide our organization and the importance of upholding professionalism in all we do. This demonstrates that from the top down, we integrate our values into training and coaching. Mentorship and workshops are designed not just to impart facts, but to reinforce behaviors like professional ethics, curiosity in problem-solving, and resourcefulness – all core aspects of our philosophy. By aligning coaching with our values, we ensure that every improvement in skill also strengthens the culture we’ve built.

Client Commitment and Service Excellence

Our core values don’t remain abstract ideals – they directly shape how we serve our real estate clients. The values under “To Display” (Care, Expertise, Commitment, Enthusiasm, Professionalism) translate into going above and beyond for every client. For instance, we emphasize thoroughness, professionalism, and care in our listing process. Every listing gets the full white-glove treatment: we provide complimentary in-house staging for the entire home, something very few brokerages offer at no cost. We also ensure every home is market-ready with meticulous prep work – the week a listing goes live, a dedicated Listing Coordinator handles all the details: hiring professional cleaners, washing windows inside and out, moving out the client’s personal items and moving in staging furniture, installing signage, and coordinating professional photography. These steps require extra effort, but they reflect our commitment to quality and expertise, making sure the property shines (literally) and demonstrating care for the client’s outcome.

We’re committed to being ethical and accommodating as well – for example, we recognized that many sellers hesitate to spend money on repairs or upgrades before selling, so Designed Realty will invest in those improvements upfront with no interest or fees to the seller. Sellers can get a new roof, paint, carpet, or other work done to maximize their sale price, and pay nothing until closing – “no interest, no fees, no mess!” as we like to say. This policy shows our willingness to Create Solutions and Invest in clients’ success, truly putting the client first. By being prompt, reliable, and knowledgeable in handling every detail – from promptly answering inquiries to thoroughly explaining contracts – we live out our values of professionalism and reliability on a daily basis. Clients notice this difference; our enthusiasm and commitment to doing things the right way builds trust and distinguishes us from competitors. In short, our service model – heavy on support, transparency, and going the extra mile – is a direct outgrowth of the core values we display.

Teamwork and a Supportive Culture

A cornerstone of our values is the idea of working together and fostering a supportive team environment. “Work Together” and “Be Bold” (from our Willing To values) mean we encourage collaboration, open communication, and innovative thinking. Within the brokerage, no one operates in isolation – in fact, the culture is built so that you are “surrounded by top performers… with a wealth of knowledge that are willing and eager to guide, teach and befriend you every step of the way”. New brokers are paired with mentors, and experienced agents actively share their expertise, embodying the value of Expertise and the willingness to Understand and help colleagues. There’s a palpable sense of investing in each other’s growth: we celebrate wins as a team and brainstorm solutions together when challenges arise, rather than competing internally. Leadership reinforces this by implementing team structures and mentorship programs (as noted in meeting agendas) to formalize support networks. We also prize boldness and creating solutions, which in practice means team members are empowered to voice new ideas, try new approaches in marketing or client service, and solve problems proactively without fear of failure.

When someone takes initiative or “thinks outside the box” to help a client, it’s recognized as living the values. Likewise, when hard decisions have to be made, we tackle them collectively – exemplifying Understanding and Working Together – so that no one feels alone in tough situations. This supportive, team-oriented culture not only makes Designed Realty a positive place to work, but it ultimately benefits our clients as well: brokers who collaborate and uphold high standards will deliver better service. In summary, our core values of teamwork, bold innovation, and mutual support are actively cultivated every day, ensuring that the whole organization moves forward together and maintains a strong, values-driven identity.

Living the Values in Every Transaction

In every real estate transaction and coaching moment, our company values serve as the north star. Whether it’s a training session where curiosity and knowledge-sharing are encouraged, a client meeting where ethical advice and care take priority, or an internal discussion where understanding and solutions are sought, we consistently tie actions back to these core principles. Our values framework isn’t just rhetoric – it’s baked into policies (like our client services and training programs) and our daily habits. Brokers are coached to internalize these values so thoroughly that, when facing an unusual scenario or ethical dilemma, their instinct is to act in line with being ethical, thorough, and client-focused. We’ve even built accountability around this; as one team member jokingly pointed out in a group chat, when someone outside our firm behaved poorly “he’s not really living up to their core values lol” – highlighting that we notice and call out misalignment with values.

By contrast, within Designed Realty we hold each other accountable to high standards. If someone falls short, we address it through the lens of our values (for example, asking if an approach was truly prompt and professional, or if a communication showed enough care and understanding). This approach keeps corrections constructive and focused on our shared goals. In a volatile industry like real estate, having this strong values foundation gives us stability. It assures our clients that no matter who they work with on our team, they’ll get a professional who is ethical, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and committed to their best interests. It also creates a company where brokers feel supported to grow and succeed without compromising on integrity or burning out. In essence, our company values are the DNA of our coaching and real estate approach – they inform every policy, every training, and every client interaction, ensuring that we consistently operate with excellence, integrity, and a passion for helping others.
